Helem’s Community Center is the cornerstone of our work in supporting LGBT people in Lebanon. Open to all 5 days a week from 10 am to 6 pm, the Community Center offers a variety of services for visitors for a symbolic fee or free of charge, in addition to housing a growing library of books and films. The Center also acts as a safe space for visitors who just want to come and relax in a friendly, non-judgmental atmosphere.

At the center, you can find the following services:

  • Psychological counseling is available two days a week, on Tuesdays from 4 pm to 7 pm, and on Thursday from 5 pm to 8 pm. One hour sessions are for LL 3,000 per session. Call us to book an appointment.
  • Our Helpline is functional 5 days a week from 11 am to 9 pm, and is handled by a team of trained volunteers. On Wednesdays from 1 pm to 4 pm, volunteers trained to answer questions specifically on HIV/AIDS and sexual health are available.
  • If a legal problem should occur, we provide free legal consultation and representation in court for a reduced fee.
  • Medical referrals. Helem has compiled a database of gay-friendly doctors we can refer you to should the need arise. We also offer free condoms and lubricants at the center.
  • Helem hosts an HIV Voluntary Testing Center (VTC) supported and approved by the governmental National AIDS Program which offers free and anonymous HIV testing, pre- and post-test counseling.
  • A safe social space for LGBTs to relax. The Community center hosts regular discussion sessions, support groups, and other social activities. Please check our calendar of events for updated information on our activities.
