Hammam Matoua’a Mayto is a music workshop for women, the workshop will be held between the 7th and 8th of August 2010 at Zicco House, Sanayeh, Beirut.

Girls (and likewise identified) interested in music will be able to learn to play instruments, form bands, write songs and play a gig as in a real rock venue.

Freud
Freud is considered by many people as the founder of modern psychiatry or at least psychoanalysis. He thought that homosexuality is just a normal variation in human sexuality and he did not think that it is a pathology. (1,2)

Other psychoanalysts had differing views from Freud. Some of their theories stated that homosexuality was a "phobic" reaction to the other sex or a psychopathology related to the Oedipal complex. (1)

It might be illogical to mention "psychiatry" and "psychology" when talking about "homosexuality". Psychiatry is one of the medical fields that deal with health and disease whereas homosexuality is a social, political and historical issue that has nothing to do with "health". The fact remains that across the years, there has been a lot of confusion about the above relationship and for that reason only it is worth talking about this issue.

Kinsey
Kinsey in 1948 found that 20% of women and 37% of men had some homosexual experience in their lifetime. Kinsey and his colleagues reported that 10% of the males in their sample and 2-6% of the females had been more or less exclusively homosexual in their behavior. (1,3)

Human sexuality is complex, and the terms we use to refer to its numerous manifestions often make it seem even more confusing. So, to help you out, we've compiled a glossary of terms that we use related to sexuality and gender.

(By the way, LGBTIQ is an acronym for lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, intersexed, and queer persons).

Sex: The biological classification of individuals based on reproductive organs/functions and genitalia. Sexes are classified as male, female, and intersexed.

Homosexuality, transgenderism and pedophilia are often confused in the minds of the public, but they are there seperate and distinct things.

The debate on whether homosexuality is a sexual "orientation" or a sexual "preference" has been going on for years. This issue has been very crucial across the years because it has a lot of implications towards "accountability" and towards the ability to stop the behavior.

People who argue that homosexuality is just a "choice" tend to think that people can "stop" being homosexual when asked to and/or that they should be "punished" for carrying on this behavior.
